Key issues for Business in 2010 - Survey

20 October 2010

Improving operational efficiency, obtaining cost savings and improving business processes are the key issues for CIOs to tackle in 2010, according to a recently published global survey.

The  annual survey of 2,655 CIOs working for companies globally, as well as in Ireland, was undertaken by Harvey Nash and had some interesting findings.

The key issues for Technolgy/IT departments to tackle in 2010 are the following :

  • Increase operational efficiencies - 75% of respondents
  • Cost savings - 74%
  • Improve business processes - 71%
  • Innovation - 38%
  • Developing new products - 35%

In Ireland, 50% of CIOs had their budgets cut in 2009, along with another 26% being frozen. So it is no wonder that their top priorities this year are about becoming more efficient, doing more with less, saving money and improving how their business operates.
